Men, Women's Swimming Compete at Widener University

Senior Andrea Carabello finished first in the 50yd and 100yd freestyle Saturday at Widener University.

CHESTER, Pa. –
The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams were back in the water Saturday, swimming at Widener University in dual-meet action. Senior Andrea Carabello charged the women's efforts, finishing first in the 50yd freestyle and 100yd freestyle.

Carabello matched a season-best time in the 50yd freestyle, touching the wall in 26.17 seconds. She clocked her second best time of the season in the 100yd freestyle (58.01).

Senior Shawnee Gehman notched her first first-place finish of the year, posting the top time of 1:13.40 in the 100yd backstroke. Junior Emily Yurick (6:02.16) placed first in the 500yd freestyle and sophomore MacKenzie Stewart (1:16.89) touched first in the 100yd breaststroke.

The Cavalier women's 400yd freestyle relay 'A' squad placed first with a  time of 4:07.45. Widener out-scored the Cabrini women, 105-93.

On the men's side, junior Bill Boylan finished first in the 100yd freestyle, posting a time of 50.53 seconds. It was his first first-place finish in the 100yd freestyle this season.

Junior Josh Pace placed first in the 100yd backstroke with a season-best time of 1:08.34. Junior Kyle Teliszewski listed first in the 500yd freestyle, clocking a time of 5:27.28.

Pace and Teliszewski teamed with sophomores Sean Corrigan and Neil Gogno for a first-place performance in the 400yd freestyle relay (3:49.07). The Pride knocked off the Blue & White men, 69-53.

The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams return to the pool Saturday, Jan. 23 at Swarthmore College. Meet time versus the Garnet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
