RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team wrapped up an undefeated regular season against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent on Saturday, rolling to an 18-0 shutout win versus Rosemont College at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The victory clinches the CSAC regular season title for the Cavaliers and the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament.
It is also the ninth time since the 1998 season that Cabrini has gone through the CSAC regular season without a loss. In fact, under the leadership of 14th-year head coach Jackie Neary, the Cavaliers own a 106-4 record versus conference opponents since 1998.
Junior attack Jamie O'Hanlon led the Blue & White attack with five points on three goals and two assists. O'Hanlon is three goals shy of 100 for her career at Cabrini.
Senior attack Danielle Rothermel tallied three points with three goals. Senior midfielder Kellie Levy notched three points, pairing two scores with one helper.
Senior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz and junior attack Gabrielle Gorbey each posted three points on one goal and two assists. Alexandrowicz is nearing the 200-goal plateau for her career, now needing just four scores.
The Cabrini offense boasted 12 players netting at least one goal, including senior midfielder Michele Ferrise and junior defender Julie Bonomo, who found the back of the cage for the first time in their Cavalier tenures.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Schmid played all 60 minutes in between the pipes, needing just one save for her first career shutout and 47th career victory.
Junior defender Courtney Davis paced the Cavaliers in the hustle category, controlling a team-best four groundballs. Davis also chipped in two points with one goal and one assist.
The Blue & White improved its record to 9-0 this season when winning the draw control battle. Alexandrowicz and senior midfielder Lynda Kaufmann each totaled a club-high three draw controls.
The win assures the Cavaliers home-field advantage throughout the CSAC Tournament. Cabrini has won nine conference championships since the 1998 campaign, including six straight from 1998-2005 and in 2009.
Cabrini (9-6, 8-0) concludes its regular season schedule on Sunday night at home versus Centennial Conference foe Dickinson College. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
