RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College swimming teams fell short in tonight's dual meet against the Albright College Lions at the Dixon Center Pool. The men lost 155-58, the women 157-91. The loss drops the men to 1-4 and the ladies to 0-5 on the year.
On the men's side, freshman
Evan Strickland continues to impress during his rookie year. Strickland won the 100-yard freestyle (49.86), 100-yard butterfly (54.47) and 100-yard individual medley (57.37). This marks the second consecutive meet the rookie has won three races.
Senior
Walter Jesuncosky was victorious in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 28.41 and finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.65. Sophomore
Tim McCann added second place finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:56.87) and 500-yard freestyle (5:58.20).
The ladies were led by sophomores
Rachel Schmid and
Elyse Phillips who each recorded a win and a third place finish. Schmid took the 100-yard individual medley in 1:14.09 and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle in1:04.47. Phillips finished first in the 50-yard butterfly in 31.64. Phillips' 50-yard backstroke time of 33.86 was good for third.
The Cavaliers' women also posted a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team Schmid,
Breaghann Smith, Rebecca Barrett, and
Lauren Sliva touched the wall in a time of 1:33.55.
The Blue and White will travel to Bryn Mawr, Pa. on November 30 for a tri-meet against Arcadia University and Bryn Mawr College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
