COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's lacrosse team scored six unanswered goals to begin the first half and led 13-3 after 30 minutes en route to a 19-3 victory against the Cabrini women's lacrosse team on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' offense generated three different goal scorers in the loss.
Sophomore attack Christina Pasquariello, freshman attack Allie Henry and freshman midfielder Kellie Manoppello each netted one goal for the Blue & White. Senior attack Jamie O'Hanlon added one assist, helping Manoppello score her first career goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Janel Folkmer led the Cavaliers with six groundballs. Senior defender Courtney Davis and senior midfielder Dolores Weathers each scooped four loose balls.
Senior defender Julie Bonomo secured a team-best three draw controls. Davis and Weathers each gathered two draw controls.
Ursinus raced to a 6-0 advantage at the 22:44 mark of the first half. Henry ended the Bears' run with her third goal of the season with 22:21 left before the break.
Manoppello got on the board, off a feed from O'Hanlon, at the 19:04 mark. Pasquariello also netted her third score of the year with less than two minutes remaining.
UC closed the opening 20 minutes on a 5-1 surge and led by 10 goals, 13-3 at the intermission. The Bears added six goals in the second half and kept the Cavaliers' offense scoreless.
Senior midfielder Allison Furman (2G, 3A) and senior attack Emily Hummel (4G, 1A) each totaled five points for Ursinus. Junior attack Emily Diehl posted four points with three goals and one assist.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Bacharach earned the win between the pipes for the Bears, playing more than 20 minutes and recording two saves. Folkomer made a season-high 14 saves for the Blue & White.
Ursinus is the Cavaliers' third straight Centennial Conference opponent to begin the 2011 regular season.
Cabrini (0-3) ends its three-game road swing at New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponent No. 3 The College of New Jersey on Thursday, March 17. Game time against the Lions is set for 7:30 p.m.
