RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team has created a three-team log-jam in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) standings following a 15-7 win versus Centenary College on Tuesday afternoon at Edith Robb Dixon Field. At 6-2 in conference play, the Cavaliers find themselves in a three-way tie for second place with the Cyclones and Gwynedd-Mercy College.
Senior attack Gabrielle Gorbey led the Cabrini offense against Centenary, posting seven points with seven goals on 13 shots. Senior attack Jamie O'Hanlon notched four points, pairing three scores with one assist.
Sophomore attack Christina Pasquariello totaled three points with two goals and one assist. Freshman midfielder Kellie Manoppello (2G) and freshman defender Ali May (1G, 1A) each recorded two points.
Senior defender Courtney Davis and senior midfielder Dolores Weathers led the Cavaliers in the hustle department, each scooping a team-high four groundballs. O'Hanlon won a club-best five draw controls.
Freshman goalkeeper Janel Folkomer earned the win between the pipes, stopping a season-best 19 shots against the Cyclones. Folkomer tallied 12 saves in the second half.
The Cavaliers jumped out to an 8-0 lead with 7:47 remaining in the first half. Gorbey and O'Hanlon each netted three goals during the early spurt. Cabrini's first five goals of the contest were unassisted.
After Nicole Judd deposited Centenary's first goal of the game at the 4:42 mark, the Blue & White closed the first half with a 9-1 advantage following Gorbey's fourth goal of the game.
Cabrini pushed its lead to 10-1 at the 22:53 mark and led 12-3 with 12:28 remaining.
Danielle Bay and Hannah Ally scored back-to-back goals for the Cyclones before the Cavaliers ran off three straight, securing a game-high 10-goal cushion, 15-5, at the 3:57 mark.
Gorbey netted three goals in the second half.
Bay led the Centenary (9-4, 6-2 CSAC) attack with three points on two goals and one assist. Ally (2G) and Alysia Pinkerton (1G, 1A) each recorded two points.
Centenary goalkeeper Ako Nakabun posted 12 saves in the loss.
The win pulls the Cavaliers even with the Cyclones and Gwynedd-Mercy at 6-2 in the CSAC standings. Marywood University (7-1 CSAC) has earned the conference's No. 1 seed for the postseason tournament.
The CSAC Tournament opens with the quarterfinal round on Saturday, April 30.
