GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team's two-game win streak in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play came to an end on Tuesday afternoon in a 11-10 loss at league rival Gwynedd-Mercy College. Senior Jamie O'Hanlon led the Cavaliers with six points in the setback.
O'Hanlon is now just four points shy of 200 for her career after pairing five goals with one assist against the Griffins. She also led the team with 11 shot attempts and scooped three groundballs.
Senior attack Gabrielle Gorbey posted two points with two goals. Senior midfielder Dolores Weathers, junior attack Jacky McDermott and sophomore attack Christina Pasquariello each netted one goal for the Blue & White.
The Cavaliers' offense owned a 37-21 advantage in the shot category, including a 19-7 difference in the second half.
Senior midfielder Francesca Pizzigoni totaled a team-high five groundballs. Pasquariello, senior defender Julie Bonomo and freshman attack Kellie Manoppello each collected two draw controls.
Freshman goalkeeper Janel Folkomer made five saves in between the pipes for the Cavaliers in the loss.
The Griffins jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the 19:40 mark of the first half and owned a 9-5 advantage at the intermission. O'Hanlon deposited three goals in the opening 30 minutes, including one that capped a 3-0 run by the Cavaliers over an eight-minute stretch.
The Blue & White opened the second half on a 4-1 spurt, pulling to within two goals, 10-8, with 17:04 remaining. Cabrini trailed 11-8 at the 9:12 mark.
Paquariello pulled the Cavaliers back within two goals with 5:20 on the clock before Gorbey netted the game's final goal with 30 ticks remaining.
Junior attack Shannon Carabba and junior midfielder Jenna D'Arcy each scored three goals for the Griffins in the victory. Carabba also contributed two assists.
Senior goalkeeper Trisha Timony recorded 17 saves for the Griffins in the win.
O'Hanlon has totaled 196 points on 126 goals and 70 assists in 62 career games played at Cabrini. O'Hanlon would become the third member of the Blue & White in the last two seasons to reach 200 career points, joining former Cavaliers Erin Nollen (294; 2007-10) and Amanda Alexandrowicz (263; 2006, 2008-10)
Today's game featured a re-match of each of the last two CSAC title games.
Cabrini (2-6, 2-1 CSAC) resumes its non-conference schedule at home against the University of Scranton on Thursday, April 7. Game time against the Lady Royals is set for 4 p.m.
