Swimming Stumbles Against Marywood on Senior Day

RADNOR, Pa. –
Cabrini College senior swimmers Lauren Sliva and Walter Jesuncosky celebrated their final swim meets at the Dixon Center Pool today, as the Cavaliers hosted Marywood University.  The Cabrini women fell to the Pacers 141-80, while the men stumbled 157-42.

Sliva continued to display her senior leadership, posting two wins in today's meet.  The senior took both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles. 

Sliva's time of 58.9 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle is currently the 3rd best time in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) this year.  In the 200-yard freestyle, Sliva bested teammate Breaghann Smith who finished second.

Freshman Melanie Felkner also posted multiple victories n the day.  The rookie took the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.71) and 100-yard butterfly (1:08.32), while finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley.

Smith also notched her best performances of the season in the 500-yard freestyle and 1,000-yard frestyle.

The team of Sliva, Kimberly Crowther, Rebecca Barrett and Elyse Phillips finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

On the men's side, sophomore Brandon Mazepa was a two race winner.  Mazepa's time of 49.86 seconds for the 100-yard backstroke was the AMCC's best time this year by nearly three seconds.  In the 100-yard breaststroke, Mazepa posted his best time of the season, 1:12.67.

Fellow sophomore Tim McCann also finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a 11:41.73.

The Cavaliers will travel to Swarthmore College on Saturday, January 21 to face the Garnet.  The meet, at Swarthmore's Ware Pool, is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
