SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Cabrini college men's and women's swim teams fell short today at Swarthmore College, as the Cavaliers lost to the Crimson 110-80 and the men 81-55.
Freshman
Evan Strickland led the Cabrini men with two race wins on the day. The rookie posted a winning time of 54.74 in the 100-yard butterfly. Strickland also took the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.65, his best time this season in the event.
Sophomore
Tim McCann also finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.89.
The Cabrini men also posted their best time this season in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Strickland, McCann,
Brandon Mazepa and
Walter Jesuncosky finished with a time of 1:37.11.
Cabrini's women were led by senior
Lauren Sliva, who posted a pair of third place finishes. The senior placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.06 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.16.
Freshman
Melanie Felkner swam a season-best 1:11.65 in the 100-yard backstroke.
The team of Sliva,
Kimberly Crowther, Felkner and Rebecca Barrett completed the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:12.10, their second best time of the season.
The Cavaliers will return to the pool on Saturday, January 28, when they face Widener University at 1:00 p.m.
