Women's Lacrosse Scores Big CSAC Win

RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini College women's lacrosse team picked up a big conference win today, defeating Neumann University 17-9. 

Both teams entered today's game tied for second in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) at 4-1.  win the win, Cabrini now stands at 5-1 in the CSAC and 5-8 overall.

The Cavaliers opened the scoring at the 27:12 mark when senior Jacky McDermott scored the first of three goals on the day.  Four minutes later, freshman Lacie Doubet extended Cabrini's lead with an unassisted tally.

Neumann tied the score with consecutive goals before the Cavaliers rallied.  McDermott's second goal returned the lead to the Blue and White.  Freshman Melissa Scanzano's free position goal with just under 12 minutes left in the first half pushed the lead back to two goals. 

Doubet's second of the day gave the Cavaliers a 5-2 lead.  A pair of goals from freshman Sara Carzo sandwiched a Neumann goal, giving Cabrini a 7-4 lead with 4:28 to play. 

Sophomore Brianna Thompson, Doubet and McDermott tallied scores in the final four minutes of the half, sending Cabrini into the half with a 10-5 lead.   

An early Neumann goal cut Cabrini's lead to 10-6.  Five minutes later, the Cavaliers got the goal back as sophomore Ali May scored an unassisted goal with 19:15 to play.

One minute later, the Blue and White posted four unanswered goals to put the game away.  Junior Christina Pasquariello converted a free position shot before Scanzno posted her second goal of the day.

Thompson's second and Means' first closed the scoring run.  Means added a pair of goals in the game's final 2:04.

Doubet's five points led the Cavaliers, while Means and McDermott added four points each.

Sophomore Erin McLaughlin, Means and Scanzano scooped five ground balls each, while Scanzano controlled five draws.

Sophomore goaltender Janel Folkomer posted eight saves in the win.

Senior Alexandra Bohen led the Knights (8-1, 4-2 CSAC) with three goals.

The Cavaliers will return to action Tuesday, April 17 when they travel to Cedar Crest College. The action will get underway at 4:00 p.m.
