SCRANTON, Pa. –
The Cabrini College women's lacrosse team dropped its third consecutive nonconference road game today, suffering a 18-9 defeat at The University of Scranton.

The Cavaliers' record now stands at 3-7 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

The freshmen combination of Melissa Scanzano and Lacie Doubet combined for seven of the Blue and White's tallies on the day.

Scranton jumped out to an early lead, scoring just over 20 seconds into the games.  The Cavaliers rallied, as Scanzano scored the first of her four goals on the day two minutes later.

The Royals then reclaimed the lead, scoring five unanswered goals over the next 20 minutes.

Doubet stopped the Scranton run with a free position shot at the 4:23 mark.  Scanzano's goal with just over three minutes before the break left the Cavaliers down 6-3 after the first 30 minutes.

A pair of Scranton goals early in the secodn half sent the Blue and White's deficit back to five goals.  Scanzano's 13th goal of the season trimmed the Royals' advantage to 8-4 with 27:09 to play.

After another Scranton tally, the Blue and White charged back with a pair of goals, cutting the score to 9-6 with 21:47 to play.  Junior Christina Pasquariello and Doubet each found the net giving the Cavaliers some momentum.

The Royals wrestled the energy back with four goals in a 2:15 span to build a 13-6 cushion.  The Cavaliers got one back at the 14:24 mark when sophomore Kellie Manoppello found senior Jackie McDermott for McDermott's second goal of the year.

Trailing 14-7 with seven minutes remaining, McDermott found Doubet, completing the rookie's hat trick.  The Royals sealed the win with five consecutive goals, leaving the Blue and White in a 18-8 hole with just 93 seconds to play.

Doubet and Scanzano controlled five draws each, while Doubet and sophomore Samantha LaMaina caused a trio of turnovers each.

Sophomore Janel Folkomer recorded nine saves for the Blue and White.
