RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini swim teams opened a busy week today, as they welcomed the Marywood University Pacers to the Dixon Center. Though the Pacers downed the Blue and White women 172-68 and the men 182-46, the Cavaliers continue to score impressive times and set new school records.
Freshman
Hassan David Goines Jr. led the Cabrini men with a victory in the 400 yard individual medley with a record breaking time of 4:43.37, shaving nearly four seconds off the previous record. The rookie also placed second in the 200 yard breast stroke, reaching the wall in 2:28.87.
Fellow freshman
Todd Walker also broke the program record in the 200 yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:11.57 to finish second. Walker's time shattered the previous record by nearly six seconds.
Sophomore
Chris Ryan added a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:59.58, while rookie
Bobby Schmidt recorded a 1:03.45 to place third in the 100 yard backstroke.
Freshman
Christina Melchiorre paced the Blue and White women with a pair of victories on the day. The rookie won the 100 yard backstroke in 1:07.86 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:36.68.
Senior
Breaghann Smith added a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.35, while fellow senior
Courtney Good posted a time of 2:40.10 in the 200 yard butterfly to place second.
In her first action of the season, junior
Morgan Griffith placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 27.54. Freshman
Meagan Kalinoski scored third place finishes in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events.
The Cavaliers will return to the pool on Tuesday when they host Albright College. The first event is slated for 6:00 p.m.
