WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Cabrini swim teams in a historic and important swim meet today at King's College. While the Cavaliers fell to King's, the women lost 111-77 and the men 100-67, the Blue and White women topped Cedar Crest College 115-44 in the Falcons first ever swim meet.
The meet held special importance as the teams participated in the King's College Swim Grey fundraiser helping raise money for a member of the Monarch's women's basketball coaching staff who was diagnosed with brain cancer over the summer. Among other things, team members purchased "Swim Grey" t-shirts.
Senior
Breaghann Smith led the Cavaliers with a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle in 11:52.75 before placing second in the 500 yard freestyle in 6:00.98. Fellow senior
Courtney Good added a pair of second place finishes in the 200 yard individual medley (2:23.22) and the 100 yard freestyle (1:00.97).
Freshman
Christina Melchiorre matched Good with two second place finishes, posting times of 26.57 in the 50 yard freestyle and 2:24.89 in the 200 yard backstroke. Melchiorre and Good also joined freshman
Moira Prior and senior
Elyse Phillips to place third in the 4x400 medley relay, reaching the wall in 4:46.35.
The Cabrini men opened the meet with a victory in the 4x400 medley relay. Junior

Chris Ryan teamed to record a time of 3:59.41.
Goines added a pair of individual event wins, scoring victories in the 200 yard individual medley (2:08.20) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:26.08). Freshman
Bobby Schmidt paired a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke (2:20.39) with a third place in the 200 yard freestyle (2:01.37).
The Cavaliers will return to the pool on Friday, when Lebanon Valley College visits the Dixon Center. The meet is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
