SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Cavaliers dove into Swarthmore College's Ware Pool tonight for the first part of the 2013 Swarthmore invitational. Through five events, the Cabrini women find themselves in 5th place out of six teams, while the Blue and White men stand in fourth of five teams.
Freshman
Christina Melchiorre led the way with a seventh place finish in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 26.44. Senior
Breaghann Smith placed 11th in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:43.01, while fellow senior
Courtney Good posted a time of 2:29.63 in the 200 yard individual medley to place 12th.
The Blue and White women also placed fourth in both the 200 yard freestyle and 400 yard medley relays. Melchiorre, Good and Smith junior
Morgan Griffith teamed to post a time of 1:49.49 in the 200 freestyle relay. Melchorre, Good, Smith and sophomore
Meagan Kalinoski teamed for a 4:42.38 in the 400 medley relay.
Freshman
Hassan David Goines Jr. paced the Cabrini men with an eighth place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, reaching the wall in 2:07.62. Freshman
Todd Walker added a 12th place finish in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:18.80. Freshman
Bobby Schmidt's 25.37 was good for a 24th place finish in the 50 yard freestyle.
Like the women. The men's relay teams had solid finishes. Walker, Goines, Schmidt and sophomore
Chris Ryan teamed to place third in the 400 medley relay in 3:58.57. Goines, Ryan, Schmidt and junior
Scott Hunt finished the 200 freestyle relay in 1:38.53 to place fourth.
The Cavaliers will return to Swarthmore on Saturday for the event's second day. The action is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
