Swim Teams Fall to Dutchmen

Despite falling on the scoreboard, the Cabrini swim teams posted another impressive performance tonight against Lebanon Valley College at the Dixon Center.  The Cabrini women fell 115-81, while the men stumbled 108-69.

Freshman Hassan David Goines Jr. led the Blue and White men with a pair of individual victories.  The rookie won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:55.14 and the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:04.18.  He also joined junior Nick Platt, freshman Todd Walker and junior Scott Hunt for a second place performance in the 200 yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:47.04.

Walker finished just behind Goines in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.35), while junior Chris Ryan placed second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:00.61).  Freshman Bobby Schmidt placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:21.09) and third in the 100 yard freestyle (55.33).

Like Goines, freshman Christina Melchiorre continued her impressive rookie season, posting three victories on the night.  Melchiorre's time of 26.19 was good for first place in the 50 yard freestyle, while her 57.03 claimed the 100 yard freestyle.  She also won the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:18.83.

Senior Breaghann Smith placed second in both the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events, followed by fellow senior Elyse Phillips who finished third in both events. Fellow senior Courtney Good scored a second place in the 100 yard backstroke (1:07.46) and a third place finish in the 200 yard individual medley (2:26.66).

The Cavaliers will return to action on November 17 when they welcome Marywood University to the Dixon Center.  The action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
