RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini swim teams closed the home portion of their 2013-14 season with a visit from the Penn State-Altoona Lions today at the Dixon Center Pool. The women claimed a 125-67 victory while the men stumbled 121.5-69.5.
Today's meet also marked the final home appearance for Cabrini's five seniors,
Lauren Ciccariello,
Courtney Good,
Tim McCann,
Elyse Phillips and
Breaghann Smith. Each has been an integral part of the Blue and White's growth and improvement over the last several years.
As a group, the Class of 2014 appears in the Cabrini swimming record books 10 times, while accounting for six Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) individual and relay championship and 22 all-conference honors.
The senior class led the Cabrini women in today's victory. Smith claimed victory in both the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:05.36) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:55.17), while Good won the 100yard butterfly (1:07.98).
Phillips placed third in both the 500 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley, as Ciccariello finished third in the 1,000 yard freestyle. All four ladies teamed to close the meet with a victory in the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:57.65.
Freshman
Allie Stein earned a victory in the 200 yard freestyle (2:22.58), while fellow rookie
Christina Melchiorre added a win in the 200 yard individual medley (2:27.42). Rookie
Moira Prior also won the 100 yard freestyle, as junior
Morgan Griffith claimed the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.17).
On the men's side, McCann placed second in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:42.07) and 500 yard freestyle (5:41.98). The senior also joined sophomore

Hassan David Goines Jr. to win the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:37.48.
Freshman
Todd Walker paired a victory in the 200 yard freestyle (1:55.18) with a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (57.95). Fellow rookie
Bobby Schmidt earned a similar double, winning the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.87) and finishing third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.37).
Goines earned second place finishes in the 200 yard individual medley (2:07.72) and the 100 yard freestyle (52.56), while Platt scored a third place finishing the 50 yard freestyle (24.48).
The Blue and White will focus on training over the next several weeks, as they do not return to competition until January 11, 2014 when they visit Widener University for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet.
