Box Score

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Cabrini College women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener this afternoon, losing to Haverford College 17-6 at Haverford's Swan Field.  Junior Bree Thompson and freshman Nathalie Basunga led the Blue and White with two goals each.

The Fords jumped out early, tallying the game's first three goals before Basunga put the Cavaliers on the board with her first career goal, assisted by sophomore Lacie Doubet.  Cabrini had trouble containing the Fords, as they extended their lead to 8-1 before sophomore Sara Carzo found Doubet for Cabrini's second goal with 10:20 to play before the break.  Haverford responded with three goals in 23 seconds en route to taking a 14-2 lead into halftime.

Thompson recorded the first two goals off the second stanza, before Haverford added two of its own.  Freshman Katie Lasater notched her first career goal with 5:43 to play, just shy of three minutes before Basunga's second on the day.

Cabrini's junior goaltender Janel Folkomer recorded eight saves in the loss.

The Blue and white outshot the Fords 28-27 and secured 14 draws to Haverford's 12.  The Cavaliers also forced 21 Haverford turnovers, including four by Thompson.

Hannah Morgan led the Fords with six goals in the win.  Haverford's trio of goaltenders combined for 16 saves, led by Shannon Horn's seven.
The Cavaliers will return to action on March 13 when they host Rowan University for the home-opener.  Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
