Doubet Leads Women's Lacrosse to 8th Consecutive Win

RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini women's lacrosse team continued its roll through the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 18-8 victory over the visiting Immaculata University Mighty Macs.  The Cavaliers posted their eighth consecutive victory and improved to 8-5 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the conference.

Sophomore Lacie Doubet led the Blue and White with season highs of six goals and seven points, all coming in the first half.  Fellow sophomore Melissa Scanzano added three goals and two assists, while senior Christina Pasquariello notched two goals and two assists in her final regular season game at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Today marks the final regular season game for Pasquariello adn felow senior Kaitlyn Smith.  Offensively, Pasquariello has amassed 135 career points on 88 goals and 47 assists.  Smith, a defender, has caused 19 career turnovers, while securing 48 career ground balls.  The duo has led the Cavaliers to a 27-3 mark in Colonial States Athletic Conference game and helps the Blue and White capture the 2010 and 2012 CSAC title

The Mighty Macs got on the board less than 30 seconds into the game but sophomore Taylor Carroll's first goal of 2013 evened the score at the 27:51 mark and sent the Cavaliers on an run of seven unanswered goals.  Doubet scored her first two goals of the afternoon over the next 51 seconds, extending Cabrini's lead to 3-1, exactly three minutes into the game.

Fellow Sara Carzo scored her first of the day with 26:19 to play before the half.  Doubet completed her hat trick just 4:26 into the game on an unassisted goal.  Scanzano's first tallied her first at the 23:11 mark, less than two minutes before Doubet's fourth of the game.   

Immaculata broke Cabrini's string of seven goals at the 20:39 mark but Pasquariello found Douobet at the 17:14 mark for the sophomore's 34th goal of the season.   Rookie Katie Lasater marked the scoring column with just under 16 minutes left in the half and 32 seconds before Scanzano's second of the game.  Follow a Mighty Mac score, Doubet completed her scoring with her sixth goal in less than 20 minutes of play.

Carzo, Pasquariello and freshman Nathalie Basunga found the back of the net in the final minutes of the opening half, as the Blue and White built a 14-4 lead after 30 minutes of action.

Cabrini's hot streak continued after the break, as junior Karlie Gruccio tallied her third career goal just 70 seconds into the half.  Scanzano completed her hat trick 35 seconds later on an unassisted goal.  Freshman Grace Capuzzi added her third career goal with 27:39 left in the game.

The Mighty Macs cut into Cabrini's lead late in the half, tallying four consecutive goals to cut the deficit to 17-8 with 5:48 to play before Pasquariello added a goal with 25 seconds to play.

Junior Erin McLaughlin scooped a game high seven ground balls in the win.  Scanzano led the Blue and White with three draw controls and four caused turnovers.  Junior goaltender Janel Folkomer recorded six saves to secure her 25th career victory.

Freshman Katie Cook led the Mighty Macs (8-5, 4-2 CSAC) with three goals and an assist.

The Cavaliers will close their CSAC schedule on Saturday as they visit Rosemont College for a 1:00p.m. tilt.
