CHESTER, Pa. – The Cabrini swim teams returned to the pool today in their first competition since December 4. The Cavaliers travels down the Blue Route to Widener University and fell just short. The ladies lost 104-78, while the men fell 103-73.
Freshman
Todd Walker led the Cabrini men, breaking his own 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:15.03, cutting nearly two seconds of his previous record of 11:16.94. The rookie also added a second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly.
In his first meet of the season, junior
Evan Strickland placed second in the 50 yard freestyle in 22.84, one spot in front of junior
Nick Platt. Freshman
Hassan David Goines Jr. added a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, reaching the wall in 2:09.75. Fellow rookie
Bobby Schmidt placed third in the 200 yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:02.62.
Junior
Morgan Griffith paced the Blue and White women, earning a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.02 and third in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.25. Senior
Courtney Good recorded a second place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, reaching the wall in 2:28.34. Senior
Breaghann Smith and freshman
Sarah Wagner added third place finishes in the 1,000 yard and 200 yard freestyle events, respectively.
The Cavaliers return to competition on Friday, as they visit Ursinus College. The action is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
