GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team extended its win streak to three matches with today's 3-0 win at Gwynedd Mercy University. The win improved the Cavaliers to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The Blue and White displayed a balanced attack, as nine players accounted for the club's 16 shots. Cabrini also recorded a season high 11 corner kicks, while holding the Griffins to eight shots and four corner kicks.
Sophomore
A.J. Bishop led the Cavaliers with two goals on a game high five shots, including four on target. Fellow sophomore
Bobby Kane added four shots in the win.
Bishop put the Cavaliers on top in the 18th minute, as he collected the rebound from his previous shot and deposited the ball into the back of the net.
Cabrini maintained the slim 1-0 lead until late in the match. In the 83rd minute, senior
Christian Martin rocketed a shot from 25 yards that ricocheted off the cross bar and into the net for his first goal of the season.
Bishop closed the scoring in the match's final minutes, as Kane found him in the penalty area.
Junior goaltender
R.J. Pino recorded two saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season.
The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday, as it hosts Centenary College (6-2-1, 1-0 CSAC) on Alumni Day. The men's soccer alums will take the pitch at 9:30 a.m. while the Blue and White will meet the Cyclones at 2:30 p.m.
