RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team found its scoring touch today, as it earned a 4-1 victory over Berkeley (N.J.) College at a soggy Edith Robb Dixon Field. The nonconference win improved the Cavaliers to 10-6 on the season.
The four goals marked the Blue and White's highest scoring output since a 4-0 victory over Penn State Brandywine to open the season.
Cabrini jumped out to an early lead in the eighth minute, as a service from sophomore
Ryan New found the head of a streaking
A.J. Bishop for the first of his two goals on the day.
Despite outshooting the Knights 9-5, the Blue and White held its slim 1-0 lead through the halftime break.
Cabrini doubled its lead in the 53rd minute when senior
Christian Martin found sophomore
Channing Shiffert for his first career goal.
Bishop returned to the score book in the 65th minute, as the sophomore converted on a penalty kick for his team-leading ninth tally of the campaign.
Freshman
Fernando Sommo closed the Blue and White's scoring in the 83rd minute, when he converted a pass from sophomore
John Underwood into his first career goal.
Pedro Dos Santos added a goal for Berkeley (N.J.) (10-7) in the 88th minute.
Sophomore goaltender
C.J. Serratore anchored the Cabrini defense to the tune of a career high 10 saves. Serratore's 10 saves marked the most by a Cavalier since Mike Viscariello posted 10 saves against Philadelphia Biblical on October 23, 2010.
Fourteen Cavaliers accounted for the team's 22 shots today, led by Bishop with five.
The Cavaliers will return to conference play on Saturday as they travel to Rosemont College (5-10, 4-3 CSAC). Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
