ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team scored early and often today, as it earned an 8-0 win at Rosemont College. The victory improved the Cavaliers to 6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 11-6 overall.
With one regular season match remaining, the Cavaliers are in prime position to advance to the 2014 CSAC Tournament, scheduled to begin on November 4.
Sophomore
A.J. Bishop put the Blue and White on top early, as the sophomore connected on penalty kicks in the fourth and 10th minutes of action.
Fellow sophomore
Mohammed Konneh added to the lead in the 15th minute as he cleaned up a rebound from a set piece from classmate
Ryan New. The Cavaliers held their 3-0 lead through the halftime break but the advantage grew in the early minute of the second half.
In the 50th minute, Bishop capped his first career hat trick with his 12th tally of the year as he corralled a rebound and put the ball in the net.
Junior
Mike Camacho notched the scoring column in the 66th minute as he converted a cross from sophomore
John Underwood into his second goal of the campaign.
Less than one minute later, Camacho found sophomore
Bobby Sharp for a header from the right side, marking Sharp's first goal of the season.
Fellow sophomore
Drew Vernon added his second career goal in the 73rd minute with a looping shot over the goaltender.
Freshman
Fernando Sommo closed the scoring in the final minute of play, as his header off a pass from fellow rookie
Kyle Pettican marked his second tally in as many matches.
Bishop accounted for five of Cabrini's 29 shots in the win, one more than Sharp and two more than Konneh.
Sophomore netminder
C.J. Serratore recorded a pair of saves, as he and freshman
Chase Rodriguez recorded the shutout.
The Blue and White will close its regular season on Tuesday, as it welcomes Cairn University (2-11-1, 1-6 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Prior to Tuesday's action, the Cavaliers will celebrate the careers of its five seniors,
