RADNOR, Pa. – For the second consecutive match, the Cabrini men's soccer team went to overtime but after the final whistle the result was the same.
Sophomore
Ryan New's first career goal gave the Cavaliers a 1-0 win at Immaculata. The victory extended the club's win streak to five matches and improved it to 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
From the opening whistle, the Cavaliers controlled much of the run of play, evidenced by its 34-5 advantage in shots and 10-3 lead in corner kicks. The Blue and White fired 11 first half shots, including five on net.
Cabrini turned up its offensive pressure in the second half, firing 17 shots, while holding the Mighty Macs to just two. Despite the advantage in shots, the Cavaliers could not figure out Immaculata goaltender Joseph Lubonski who posted nine saves on the night.
The score sheet remained blank through 90 minutes of action, then 100 minutes of action. An Immaculata foul in the 105th minute gave Cabrini a direct kick at midfield. New served the ball into the Mighty Macs penalty area before the ball bounced into the net for the Blue and White win.
Cabrini's 34 shots marked the most since it recorded 43 attempts in a 10-0 win at Valley Forge Christian College on October 16, 2012.
