SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini swimming teams traveled to Scranton, Pa. where they competed against the Marywood University Pacers. The men's team fell to the Pacers 178-58, while the women's team lost 150-86.
Despite the loss, sophomore swimmer Christina Melchiorre was able to find success, as she captured wins in the 100 yard backstroke, 200 yard individual medley and 50 yard freestyle. The sophomore finished the 50 yard freestyle in 26.53, just 1.3 seconds behind Andrea Carabello's school record.
Senior Morgan Griffith won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.76, adding a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle.
Freshman Casey Merrill finished second in the 100 yard freestyle In 1:00.92.
The men were led by sophomore Todd Walker, who earned a victory in the 100 yard butterfly with a final time of 55.59. Walker also posted a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
Sophomore Hassan David Goines Jr. won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 29.87.
The Cavaliers return to action Saturday when they travel to Steubenville, Ohio to take on Franciscan University and Bethany College. The meet is set to begin at 12 p.m.
