Women's Lacrosse Quiets the Cyclones with 17-3 Win

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team extended its Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak to 16 games with today's 17-3 win at Centenary College.  The Cavaliers' second straight win improves the club to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC.

Junior Melissa Scanzano matched a career high with five goals on the day, while fellow junior Lacie Doubet added four and freshman Sasha Wozniak three.

After surrendering the game's opening goal, the Cavaliers took over, tallying 12 unanswered goals.  Scanzano opened Cabrini's scoring with two goals.  Wozniak, Scanzano and Doubet then netted three goals in the span of 32 seconds, extending the lead to 5-1 with 21:42 left in the half.

Wozniak and Doubet posted their second goals of the afternoon before senior Sarah Means found freshman Jess Breuning for the first of her two goals on the day.  Wozniak completed her hat trick just 13:34 into the game, 90 seconds before Doubet completed the feat following a pass from junior Taylor Carroll.

Senior Bree Thompson, Breuning and freshman Kristina Quintiliani added goals before the break, as Cabrini took a 13-2 lead into the halftime break.

Scanzano posted a pair of goals after the break, including a man-down tally, while Doubet added her fourth of the day.  Means closed the scoring with her second goal of the season.

Scanzano led the Blue and White, firing nine of the club's 32 shots on the day.  The junior also led the team with five draw controls.  Thompson scooped a game-high five ground balls, caused four turnovers and controlled two draws.  

Wozniak added four draw controls and matched Doubet and Carroll with two caused turnovers.  Senior Janel Folkomer and freshman Megan Barlow recorded one save each in the win.

Devin Sutko tallied two goals for the Cyclones (0-5, 0-1 CSAC).

Cabrini will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Tuesday, when it hosts Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4, 1-0 CSAC).  Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
