Women's Lacrosse Stumbles at Rowan 12-5

Box Score

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team was held to just five goals, its lowest scoring output of the season, as it fell at Rowan University tonight.  The Cavaliers' 12-5 loss to the Profs dropped the club to 9-4 on the season.

Junior Melissa Scanzano led the Blue and White with three goals, four ground balls and a season high five caused turnovers.  Senior Erin McLaughlin and junior Tori Canelli added three ground balls, while junior Lacie Doubet accounted for three of the team's four draw controls.  Senior goaltender Janel Folkomer recorded 13 saves in the loss.

The Cavaliers fell behind early, as Rowan scored the game's first three goals.  Scanzano put the Blue and White on the board with an unassisted tally with 21:21 left in the half.  Cabrini trailed 5-1 when Scanzano scored her second of the night.  The Profs held their 5-2 lead as the teams went into the half.

Rowan put the game away in the opening minutes of the second half, as it posted five unanswered goals in the first 5:33 of the period.  Doubet's unassisted goal with 13:59 to play stopped the Rowan spurt, but three minutes later, the Profs added two more goals.

Scanzano and freshman Jessica Breuning added unassisted goals in the game's final minutes.

Becca Wood led Rowan (9-4) with seven goals, wile Lauren Callaghan secured nine draws.

The road for the Cavaliers gets no easier, as the club returns to action on Saturday with a visit from Colorado College (13-3), winners of seven straight.  Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
