Women's Lacrosse Extends Streak to 7 with Win at Marywood

Box Score

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to seven games with today's 14-6 win at Marywood University.  With the win, the Blue and White improve to 7-2 on the season and 5-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Juniors Melissa Scanzano and Lacie Doubet paced the Blue and White with six points and three ground balls each.  Scanzano tallied five goals and an assist, while Doubet found the back of the net four times. The duo also combined for six caused turnovers.  Senior Bree Thompson added two goals, two assists and four draw controls in the win.

Senior goaltender Janel Folkomer recorded nine saves between the pipes to record the victory.

Cabrini jumped out to a commanding lead, as the club scored the game's first goals.  Freshman Allie Vallen opened the score book less than 90 seconds into the game with an unassisted tally.  Thompson doubled the lead two minutes later.  Doubet's first of the day came with 25:13 to play.

Less than 30 seconds later, Doubet found freshman Sasha Wozniak for the first of her two goals on the day.  Thompson found Scanzano with 22:23 left in the opening half to give Cabrini a 5-0 lead.

Marywood snapped the spurt with a pair of goals in a span of 48 seconds but the Blue and White closed the half with goals by Doubet and Wozniak to build a 7-2 lead at the halftime break.

Doubet and Scanzano again marked the scoring column in the opening 92 seconds of the second half, extending the lead to 9-2.  The Pacers recorded a pair of goals before the duo struck again, notching goals at the 11:15 and 10:09 marks.

The Pacers got one of the goals back at the 6:35 mark, but it took Scanzano just 29 seconds to extend the lead back to seven goals.  Thompson and Scanzano ended any hope of a Marywood comeback with goals in the final four
minutes.

The Blue and White will play its third consecutive road game on Tuesday, when it visits Immaculata University (6-6, 3-2 CSAC).  Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
