Box Score
2014 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Bracket

GLENSIDE, Pa. –
It had been 12 season since the Cabrini women's lacrosse team had the feeling of winning an NCAA Tournament game.  That drought ended tonight, as the Cavaliers ran out to an 8-0 lead before topping Arcadia University in tonight's NCAA Tournament first round game.

With the win, the Blue and White improve to 14-5 on the season, the team's most wins in a season since 2007.  Cabrini's reward for its first round victory is a trip to No. 6 Gettysburg for Saturday's second round.  The Bullets earned a bye into the second round after a 16-2 campaign and Centennial Conference title.  The clubs met in the opening round of the 2012 tournament, with Gettysburg advancing after 22-7 win.

Junior Lacie Doubet led the Cavaliers with four goals on the night, while freshman Sasha Wozniak added three.  Senior Sarah Means paired two goals and two assists, matching freshman Allie Vallen with two goals.

Freshman Jessica Breuning scooped five ground balls and caused a career high five turnovers.  Senior goaltender Janel Folkomer secured the victory with seven saves and a game high eight ground balls.

The Cavaliers took the field with a sense of determination, as Means opened the scoring 30 seconds into the game, the first of eight unanswered goals for the Blue and White.  Vallen's two goals sandwiched Wozniak's first of the day to give Cabrini a 4-0 lead at the 22:09 mark.

Doubet netted a pair of goals before goals by junior Melissa Scanzano and Means extended the lead to 8-0 with just south of five minutes left in the opening half.  Arcadia finally broke through Cabrini's defense for a pair of goals in the final four minutes of the period.

Wozniak opened the second half with her second of the game.  The Knights tried to mount a comeback, scoring two goals in a 10 second period to come within 9-4 but it was the last time they would finds the net.

Doubet completed her hat trick with 19:50 to play off a Means' pass.  Unassisted goals by Breuning and Doubet rebuilt Cabrini's eight goal cushion with 9:50 on the clock.  Wozniak closed the scoring with an unassisted goal with 73 seconds on the clock.

Dawn Faranetta led Arcadia (18-2) with a goal and an assist.
