PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer stumbled out of the gates today, as it fell to Division II Philadelphia University 5-1 to open the 2014 season.
The Cavaliers fell behind early, as the Rams netted three goals in the opening 20:20 of the game. By the halftime break, the Blue and White found itself in a 4-0 hole.
Cabrini broke into the scoring column in the 55th minute as senior
Melissa Scanzano's shot bounced off the crossbar and junior
Devon Miller collected the rebound and put the ball in the back of the net.
Scanzano led the Cavaliers with four shots on the day, one more than Miller. Sophomore goaltender
Marissa Jenkins notched three saves Cabrini, while freshman
Alivia Dietsch added one.
The Cavaliers will look for a different result on Wednesday when they host Washington College. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
