RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team rebounded from Friday's season-opening loss to score a 3-0 win over the visiting Washington College Shorewomen today at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The win evens the Cavaliers record at 1-1.
The Blue and White built an early lead as senior
Melissa Scanzano scored her first goal of the season just 68 seconds into the game. Twenty minutes later, junior
Devon Miller added to the lead with her second goal of the year. Fellow junior
Julianna Ardire fired a shot and Miller was in the right place to finish the rebound.
The Cavaliers carried their 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Though Cabrini outshot the Shorewomen 9-4 after the break, the Blue and White could not put the ball into the back of the net until the 86th minute.
A Washington penalty led to a Cabrini penalty kick opportunity. Freshman
Taylor Tralie stepped to the penalty spot and calmly placed the ball in the lower right corner for her first career goal.
Tralie, Miller and senior
Gabby Meck accounted for three shots each on the day, as Cabrini outshot Washington 17-11.
Freshman
Alivia Dietsch made her first career start and recorded six saves in the shutout.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they welcome Catholic University (3-0) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
