MADISON, N.J. – The Cabrini field hockey team's comeback fell just short today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 3-2 loss to Lebanon Valley College at the Drew University Fall Festival. The loss drops the Blue and White to 1-1 on the young season.
Cabrini jumped out to an early lead, as junior
Danielle Palatano connected with senior
Karlie Gruccio in the sixth minute for the senior's first tally of the season. The Dutchmen leveled the score in the 16th minute, sending the clubs into the halftime break tied at 1-1.
Lebanon Valley broke the tie just 76 seconds into the second half before building a two goal cushion in the 55th minute. The Cavaliers cut their deficit in half with less than five minutes to play, as Palatano recorded her second helper of the afternoon, finding senior
Taylor Carroll for her first goal of the year.
Cabrini earned a penalty corner with 90 seconds remaining on the clock, but the Dutchmen defense held firm, holding the Cavaliers without a shot.
Junior
Kerry Anne Farrell led the Blue and White with two of the team's five shots on the afternoon, while three other Cavaliers recorded one each. Freshman goaltender
