RADNOR, Pa. – After scoring four goals in its opener yesterday, the Cabrini men's soccer team mustered just one today, as the Cavaliers fell to Wesley College 2-1 in the championship game of the Men's Soccer Labor Day Kick-Off at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The loss drops the Blue and White to 1-1 on the season.
The Cavaliers jumped out to an early lead, as sophomore
Mohammed Konneh's service found fellow sophomore
Bobby Kane in the 15th minute. Despite having several scoring opportunities, including hitting the crossbar twice, Cabrini could not take advantage of its momentum. The score remained 1-0 until the 33rd minute, when Wesley's Eman Asao scored the first of his two goals on the day.
Both clubs battled back and forth, creating scoring chances, but the game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the 68th minute when the Wolverines netted the eventual game winner.
Kane and fellow sophomore
A.J. Bishop combined for 10 of Cabrini's 13 shots on the day, while junior goaltender
R.J. Pino recorded seven saves.
Cabrini seniors
Christian Martin and
Sean Neary joined sophomore
Kyle Chevalier on the All-Tournament Team.
The road gets no easier for the Blue and White as No. 2 Rutgers-Camden (1-1) visits Edith Robb Dixon Field on Wednesday. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
