Women's Soccer Opens CSAC Play wth 6-0 Victory

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team opened its Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule with a dominant 6-0 win over Cedar Crest College today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The victory also snapped the Cavaliers' four match losing streak, improving the club to 2-5 overall.

Junior Devon Miller posted a career high five points on two goals and an assist, while fellow junior Meghan Martin's four points on a goal and two helpers matched a career best.

The Blue and White controlled the match from the opening whistle, as it outshot the Falcons 29-2, including 23-0 in shots on goal.  Ten Cavaliers attempted at least one shot on the day, led by sophomore Allie Vallen with six, including five on net.  Miller, Martin and senior Gabby Meck added four each.

Cabrini jumped out to an early lead, as Martin found Miller in the game's fifth minute to put the Blue and White ahead.  The Cavaliers doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when freshman Taylor Tralie found Meck, who slotted a pass to Martin for second goal of the year.

In the 27th minute, Martin found fellow junior Dana Peterson for her first goal of the season.  Just over a minute later, Peterson paid it forward to senior Melissa Scanzano, finding the senior for her second tally of the year.  Miller's second goal of the afternoon came in the 33rd minute, as she finished a pass for Tralie for the rookie's second assist of the day.

Freshman Brittany Runyen notched her first collegiate tally in the 49th minute off a Miller assist.

Freshman Alivia Dietsch and sophomore Marissa Jenkins combined in the Blue and White net to earn the shutout.

Freshman goaltender Nalani Velasquez recorded 16 saves for the Falcons (2-5-1).

The Cavaliers will briefly step out of conference play on Wednesday as they welcome Rutgers-Camden (2-4-1) to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The action gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
