RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team put a bow on the Homecoming 2014 schedule, as it rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to score a 2-1 victory over Keystone College in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener for both clubs.
The win marked the first back to back wins this season for the Blue and White, who improved to 5-4 on the season.
The Cavaliers fell behind in the 20th minute as Keystone's Alex Buchholz scored an unassisted tally.
While both teams attempted five shots in the opening period, Buchholz's shot was the only one to find the net.
The Blue and White refocused and turned up its pressure after the halftime break. It took Cabrini just over seven minutes to even the score, as sophomore
Tyler Bond found classmate
Bobby Kane in the 53rd minute for Kane's fourth tally of the season.
Both teams battled back and forth trying to secure the tie breaking goal. The Cavaliers found the right combination in the 80th minute, as sophomore
A.J. Bishop's direct kick found the streaking
Mohammed Konneh who headed the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.
Cabrini attempted 18 shots on the night, including a season high eight attempts on goal. Bishop led the way with a season high six shots, while seniors
Rey Jimenez and
George Lambritsios added three shots each.
Junior goaltender
R.J. Pino recorded three saves to secure the victory.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Wednesday as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy (2-7, 0-0 CSAC). Kickoff for the CSAC tilt is slated for 4:00 p.m.
