RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 2-0 victory over the visiting Rosemont Ravens at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Homecoming win improved the Cavaliers to 3-6 overall.
The game marked a rematch of the 2013 CSAC championship match, one won by the Cavaliers. The intensity of today's action was reminiscent of that championship match.
Cabrini jumped out to an early lead as senior
Gabby Meck's corner kick found junior
Dana Peterson in the third minute of action. The eventual game winner marked Peterson's second tally of the season.
The Blue and White doubled its lead just seven minutes later when freshman
Lisette Hrapmann netted her first career goal, a direct kick from just outside the Rosemont penalty area.
Both teams had their fair shares of scoring opportunities throughout the match. The Ravens attempted 12 shots on the day and earned seven corner kicks to Cabrini's six.
Ten Cavaliers accounted for the club's 17 shots, including seven on goal. Peterson and fellow junior led the way with three shots each, one more than Hrapmann and juniors
Kaitlyn Cooper and
Meghan Martin.
Freshman goaltender
Alivia Dietsch recorded three saves to secure her second shutout of the season.
The Blue and White will return to action on Tuesday as it visits Cairn University (2-3, 1-1 CSAC). The match is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Langhorne, Pa.
