LANGHORNE, Pa. – Six Cavaliers found the back of the net today, as the Cabrini women's soccer team scored a 7-1 win at Cairn University. The victory improved the Blue and White to 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 4-6 overall.
The seven goals mark Cabrini's highest offensive output of the season, while its 26 shots are the second most this season. Fifteen Cavaliers recorded at least one shot on the day, led by junior
Meghan Martin with four. The trio of senior
Melissa Scanzano and juniors
Devon Miller and Juliana Ardire added three each.
The Cavaliers didn't waste any time opening the score book, as junior
Dana Peterson's volley from a direct kick by freshman
Lisette Hrapmann put the Blue and White on the board in the third minute. Junior
Kaitlyn Cooper doubled the lead in the fifth minute as her 30 yard strike fell into the net over the Cairn goalkeeper.
Miller tallied her fifth goal of the season in the 19th minute, as Martin's cross found her in front of the goal. Cabrini carried the 3-0 lead into the halftime break, despite outshooting the Highlanders 21-2 in the opening 45 minutes.
Cabrini regained its scoring touch early in the second half, as senior
Kaitlin Zisa notched her first goal of the season on a 35 yard shot in the 48th minute. Cairn's Hannah Morrison put the Highlanders on the board in the 50th minute, but any remaining doubt about the outcome ended in the 62nd minute.
Martin notched her third goal of the season in the 62nd minute, as her 18 yard blast found the net. Less than 90 seconds later, senior
Danielle Kane scored her second career goal and first since Oct. 8, 2011. The scoring ended in the 71st minute as Cabrini was the beneficiary of a Cairn own goal.
Freshmen
