ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team fell to 2-2 on the season after today's 3-1 loss at Eastern University. The match was slated to be played on Saturday, but was postponed after a lightning delay.
The Cavaliers fell behind in the 18th minute as the Eagles converted a penalty kick. The deficit grew to 2-0 in the 32nd minute, a lead that Eastern carried in the halftime break.
The Blue and White had an opportunity to cut into the lead in the 48th minute, but failed to convert its own penalty kick opportunity. The Cavaliers surrendered a third goal in the 54th minute, as Eastern's Benjamin Barnhart scored his second goal of the day.
Cabrini finally marked the score column in the 76th minute as junior
Boomer Steigelman's direct kick navigated the defensive wall and found the back of the net.
The Cavaliers fired just seven shots to Eastern's 18. Steigelman and sophomore
Mohammed Konneh tallied a pair of shots each, while junior goaltender
R.J. Pino recorded four saves in the loss.
Cabrini returns to the pitch on Wednesday as it travels to Center Valley, Pa. to face DeSales University (1-2-1). Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
