RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team improved to 10-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 103-33 victory over the visiting Cairn University Highlanders.
The 103 point outburst marks just the fifth time the Cavaliers have surpassed the century mark and the first since a 102-45 win over Neumann in 1995-96. It is also the second most points scored in a game, falling just shy of the 107 points scored in a victory over Wesley during the 1988-89 campaign.
While the Cavaliers' defensive effort is normally on display, the Blue and White displayed an offensive dominance in today's win. The club recorded season highs with 41 made field goals, a .526 field goal percentage, 54 rebounds, 24 assists and 22 steals.
All 14 players in uniform saw significant action, ranging between 7-25 minutes. Senior
Amber Keys paced the club with 20 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Keys now sits just four points shy of the 1,000 career point plateau.
Fellow senior
Megan Decker added 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while sophomore
Meghan Horn tallied 12 points and four boards.
Freshmen
Kate Skalski and
Jess Tennett recorded season highs with seven and four points, respectively, while sophomore
Tayler Holmes matched a career high seven rebounds to go with her seven points.
The Cavaliers wasted little time in taking control of the game, as they scored the game's first 17 points and never looked back. Cabrini held the Highlanders to just eight first half points on 3-20 shooting and forced 18 first half turnovers.
Junior Amie Eppolito led Cairn (2-7, 0-4 CSAC) with 15 points, including 12 after the halftime break. Freshman Amy Faust added 10 points in the loss.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Monday, as Notre Dame of Maryland University (3-9, 1-4 CSAC) visits Nerney Field House. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
