CHESTER, Pa. - The men's and women's swim teams traveled to Chester, Pa. to take on Widener University today. The men's team fell 162-66, while the women's team stumbled 154-92.
Sophomore Christina Melchiorre found some individual success, placing first in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:04.18 and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:36.14.
Melchiorre, senior Morgan Griffith and freshmen Brooke Hagan and Casey Merrill combined for a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay, reaching the wall in 1:47.77.
Freshman Stefanie Barkofski and Hagan placed first and second in the 200 yard individual medley. Barkofski touched the wall in 2:39.33, while teammate Hagan finished with a time of 2:40.25.
Griffith placed second in the 100 yard backstroke and freestyle in 1:06.50 and 59.04, respectively.
Merrill finished second in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:33.75, while sophomore Moira Prior came in second place in the 200 yard breaststroke, reaching the wall in 3:08.13.
On the men's side, sophomores Chris Moore and Bobby Schmidt teamed with freshmen Ryan Hagan and Rich Giuliani in the 200 yard freestyle relay for a winning time of 1:38.47.
Moore and sophomore Hassan David Goines Jr. combined for two first place finishes for the men. Moore won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:03.57, while Goines reached the wall first in the 400 yard individual medley time trial in 4:45.10.
Sophomore Todd Walker added second place finishes in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyles, reaching the wall in 5:13.98 and 10:58.61, respectively.
Schmidt finished the 100 yard backstroke in 1:02.43, good for second place, while freshman Nicholas Vivian finished second in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:19.20.
The Blue and White will host Ursinus College on Saturday at the Dixon Pool. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.
