RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team continues to fire on all cylinders, as it shot a season high 52.9% from the field en route to a 90-55 win over the visiting Centenary Cyclones.
With the victory, the team's seventh in a row, the Blue and White improve to 13-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Senior
Amber Keys, who prior to the game was presented with a ball commemorating her 1,000th career point, led four Cavaliers in double figure scoring. The senior dropped a career high 27 points to go with 10 rebounds and five steals, marking her ninth double-double of the season.
Junior
Kristina Startare added 14 points, while senior
Megan Decker paired 12 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Junior
Dana Peterson posted 11 points and six helpers in the win.
Cabrini used an early 7-0 spurt to take control of the game and never looked back. Decker, Keys and Peterson combined for a 10-0 run later in the half, as the Cavaliers built a 48-27 lead after 20 minutes.
The Blue and White showed no let-up after the halftime break, as a Keys' jumper punctuated another 8-0 run, extending the lead to 62-33.
Twelve of the 14 Cavaliers who saw action tonight notched the scoring column, while 13 grabbed at least one rebound.
Once again, the Blue and White controlled lane, outrebounding Centenary 44-36. The Cavaliers also scored 44 points in the paint to The Cyclones' 20.
Sophomore Mallory George led the Cyclones (3-13, 2-5 CSAC) with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Tonight's game also marked the second annual Cabrini Nation Night: #DoBlue event, sponsored by Cabrini Traditions. Both the Cabrini women's and men's teams wore their blue uniforms in front of the home crowd. Special commemorative #DoBlue t-shirts were also handed out to the first 100 students at tonight's game.
Tonight's win sets up Wednesday's rematch of the 2014 CSAC Championship game, as Immaculata returns to Nerney Field House. The game also pits the last two CSAC unbeatens against each other, as the Mighty Macs improved to 6-0 in the conference and 9-6 overall with tonight's 77-71 win at Gwynedd Mercy. Game time is scheduled for 6:30.
