Women's Soccer Finds Offense in 5-0 Win over Keystone

Story Links

RADNOR, Pa. – After struggling to find the back of the net in its last few outings, the Cabrini women's soccer team found its scoring touch today, as it topped the Keystone College Giants 5-0 at Edith robb Dixon Field.

With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 5-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and reached .500 overall at 5-5-2.  The victory also extended the Blue and White's CSAC unbeaten streak to 26 matches.

The Cavaliers controlled the flow of the game from the opening whistle, as it outshot Keystone 12-3 in the opening 45 minutes.  Cabrini opened the scoring in the 16th minute, when sophomore Lisette Hrapmann's corner kick found senior Meghan Martin for the first of her two goals on the day.

The Blue and White doubled its lead a few minutes later, as senior Julianna Ardire and Devon Miller connected for Miller's second goal of the campaign.  The Cavaliers carried their two goal cushion into the second half before a three minute flurry put the game away.

In a span of 2:22, Cabrini posted three goals to seal the victory.  Junior Allie Vallen's header off a pass from sophomore Brittany Runyen bounced over the Keystone net minder at the 72:27 mark.  Less than a minute later, Runyen found herself on the business end of Martin pass for the sophomore's first goal of 2015.

Ninety seconds later, Martin closed the scoring, as she deked a defender and chipped a shot to the far post for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Martin's five points marked a career high, while her two goals tied a career best.  Today also marked a career high three points for Runyen.

The Cavaliers outshot Keystone 22-11 in the win.  Martin and fellow senior Dana Peterson led the way with four shot each, while Miller and Runyen added three each.

Sophomore goaltender Alivia Dietsch and junior Marissa Jenkins combined for six saves to secure the shutout.

Freshman Nina Carbonaro led Keystone with three shots, while sophomore goaltender Sarah Heintz posted five saves.

The Blue and White will return to the pitch on Saturday, as it welcomes Cairn University (5-8, 3-4 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field for Homecoming.  Kickoff is slated for 12 Noon.
