Women's Soccer Scores 6-2 Homecoming Win over Cairn

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team stayed unbeaten in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 6-2 victory over the visiting Cairn University Highlanders.  With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 6-0-1 in conference play and 6-5-2 overall.

The Blue and White jumped out to an early lead, as senior Dana Peterson's pass sprung classmate Meghan Martin for a breakaway, for the first of her two goals on the day.

Cairn evened the score in the 31st minute, as junior Hannah Morrison's chip found the back of the net.

Freshman Brittany Woodruff put Cabrini ahead in the 42nd minute with a blast to the far post.  The Cavaliers carried their 2-1 cushion into the second half, but it didn't take long for the club to extend the lead.

Senior Devon Miller found Martin just 90 seconds into the second stanza, pushing the lead to 3-1.  Miller added a goal to her stat line in the 54th minute, on an assist from sophomore Brittany Runyen.

Woodruff added her second tally of the day in the 84th minute, completing her first career multi-goal game.  Martin was credited with the assist, matching a career high five points on the day.

Senior Keri Hinkelmon closed the scoring in the 89th minute when her direct kick from 35 yards out found the top left corner of the goal.

The Cavaliers outshot Cairn 27-15, including 17-6 in shots on goal.  Martin led the way with six shots, while senior Kaitlyn Cooper and junior Allie Vallen added four each.

Sophomore Alivia Dietsch recorded three saves to earn the victory.  Classmate Gabby LeGendre saw her first action of the season, making one save.

Morrison paired a goal and an assist for Cairn (5-9, 3-5 CSAC), while sophomore Mackenzie Paugh tallied 11 saves.

The Blue and White will return to action on Tuesday, as it travels to Baltimore to face Notre Dame of Maryland University (8-3-1, 2-3-1 CSAC).  Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
