Meet ResultsMeet ScoresSCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini men's and women's swim teams kicked off their 2015-16 seasons today, splitting a tri-meet at the University of Scranton. The women's team earned a 75-47 win over FDU-College at Florham but fell to University of Scranton 103-19. The men's team also outswam the Devils, by a score of 78-44, before falling 98-24 to the Royals.
Juniors
Todd Walker and
Hassan David Goines Jr. led the men's team with a combined four first place finishes.
Walker scored wins in the 200 yard butterfly and 200 yard backstroke, finishing in 2:06.70 and 2:03.75, respectively.
Goines placed first in the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:27.62 and added another win in the 50 yard freestyle in 23:38. Goines also placed third in the 200 yard individual medley in 2:14.13.
Senior
Sean Tallon earned a first place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle, reaching the wall in 11:31.47. Tallon added a second place finish in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:38.53, while freshman
Ryan Brong placed second in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:21.01.
Sophomores
Nicholas Vivian and
Rich Giuliani earned a pair of third place finishes. Vivian swam a time of 1:00.31 in the 100 yard butterfly, while Giuliani reached the wall in 50:89 in the 100 yard freestyle.
On the women's side, junior
Christina Melchiorre led the way with a pair of second place finishes. The junior earned a time of 57.40 in the 100 yard freestyle and reached the wall in 2:07.73 in the 200 yard freestyle.
Sophomore
Candace Brown placed third in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:06.31, while classmate
Alexis Drew also finished third in the 200 yard individual medley, reaching the wall in 2:41.75.
Sophomore
Brooke Hagan competed in the 1,000 yard freestyle and finished with a time of 12:41.66, good for third place. Freshman
Marissa Loro placed third in the 500 yard freestyle, with a final time of 5:59.78, while fellow classmate
Moira Prior added a fourth place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:24.11.
The men's and women's swim teams will travel to Bradford, Pa. on Saturday to face the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in an AMCC dual swim meet at 1 p.m.
