LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team scored its 12th victory of the season for just the second time in the last six season with today's 2-1 victory at Cairn University.
The Blue and White improved to 12-1-3 on the year and 6-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The triumph also extended the club's current unbeaten streak to 10 matches.
With just two matches remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers remain in first place with 19 points, three points north of Marywood and four points clear of Centenary and Immaculata, Cabrini's next opponent.
Junior
Bobby Kane put the Cavaliers on the board in the ninth minute of action as he tapped in the rebound of his own shot.
The Highlanders evened the score in the 39th minute on Craig Kikendall's blast from outside the 18 yard box.
The score remained deadlocked until a 75th minute cross from freshman
Jared Irwin found junior
A.J. Bishop for a header goal, the junior's ninth goal of the campaign.
Cabrini pressed to extend its lead, recording five shots, including three on goal in the game's final 15 minutes. The Blue and White also maintained its lead by allowing the Highlanders just one shot and one corner kick during the same time frame.
Kane led the Cavaliers with six of the club's 15 shots on the day, while Bishop added three. Junior goaltender
C.J. Serratore earned the victory after making four saves.
Kikendall accounted for four of Cairn's (7-8-1, 3-4 CSAC) 11 shots in the loss, while goaltender Mark Heater posted five saves.
Cabrini will host its final regular season home match on Tuesday, as it welcomes Immaculata University (7-9, 5-2 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m.
