RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak to 11 matches with tonight's 2-0 victory over the visiting Immaculata University Mighty Macs.
With the victory, the Cavaliers improve to 13-1-3 overall and 7-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Blue and White will enter Saturday's regular season finale at Keystone with a chance to earn the number one seed in next week's CSAC Tournament.
Sophomore
Paolo Chavarria put Cabrini on the board in the 13th minute after sophomore
Joe Fiore fought for a ball on the left sideline. Fiore found Chavarria, who curled a 20 yard shot just inside the far right post for his first goal of the year.
Despite a 7-2 advantage in shots, the Cavaliers posted just one goal in the opening half.
Cabrini didn't waste much time in the second half extending its lead. Just one minute into the frame, junior
Bobby Kane took advantage of an Immaculata turnover, beat a defender and slid the ball under the goalie and into the back of the net for his seventh goal of the season.
The Cavaliers outshot the Mighty Macs 16-7, including 7-1 in shots on goal, and earned three corner kicks to just one for Immaculata.
Kane recorded seven of the Blue and White's shots, while sophomore
Ben Roda and freshman
Jared Irwin added two each.
Junior Alec Shuler led Immaculata (7-10, 5-3 CSAC) with three shots, while classmate Joe Lubonski posted five saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will close their regular season with a trip to La Plume, Pa. on Saturday to face Keystone College (6-8-1, 3-5 CSAC). Game time is scheduled for 12 Noon.
