Volleyball Completes Perfect CSAC Slate with 3-0 Victory

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cabrini volleyball team completed its third consecutive undefeated Colonial States Athletic Conference schedule with tonight's 3-0 victory at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

The Cavaliers improved to 22-8 overall and 11-0 in the CSAC with the 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 victory.  The win also marked Cabrini's 37th consecutive CSAC win.

By virtue of its 11-0 CSAC record, the Cavaliers have earned the top seed and a first round bye in next week's CSAC Tournament.  Cabrini will host a semifinal round match on Thursday at 7 p.m.  The Blue and White will face the lowest remaining seed after Tuesday's opening round matches.

Senior Jen Grenauer and sophomore Nicole Sokolovich led the Cabrini offense with 10 kills each, while sophomore Chelsea Jones added eight kills.

With tonight's output, Grenauer moves past Alexis Doss into third place on the program's kills list with 1,011.  Stephanie Recklau currently holds the number two spot with 1,018 kills.

Senior Cassidy Koenig directed the attack with 38 assists to go with three service aces.

Junior Kelly Guarino scored a match high 20 digs and matched Koenig with three service aces.

The clubs went back and forth to open the first set, but holding a slim 13-12 lead, the Blue and White scored eight of the next nine points to build a commanding 21-13 lead.

Cabrini carried its momentum into the second frame, building an early 7-2 cushion.  The Cavaliers used runs of 5-0 and 6-0 to pull away from the Gators, taking a two sets to none lead.

Notre Dame fought back in the third set, keeping the set close before pulling ahead 17-15.  The Cavaliers had an answer though, scoring eight of the next nine points, including six straight to take a 23-18 lead.

Ashley Pasker led the Gators (14-9, 6-4 CSAC) with eight kills, while Cleaya Antes notched 13 digs.

Cabrini will travel to Allentown, Pa. on Saturday to close its regular season.  The Cavaliers will face Muhlenberg College (17-9, 6-4 Centennial) at Noon and Misericordia (12-19, 4-3 MAC Freedom) at 2 p.m.
