RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's soccer team sent its seniors off in rousing fashion today, as the Cavaliers scored a dominant 7-0 victory over Immaculata University in this afternoon's regular season finale.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 9-0-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 9-5-3 overall. By virtue of extending its CSAC unbeaten streak to 31 matches, Cabrini secures the number one seed and home field advantage in next week's CSAC Tournament.
The Blue and White also earned a bye into Wednesday's semifinal round, when it will host the lowest remaining seed after Monday's quarterfinal round matches.
Today's action also marked the final regular season home appearance for the Cavaliers' seven seniors,
Julianna Ardire,
Kaitlyn Cooper,
Nicole Hallinan,
Kerri Hinkelmon,
Meghan Martin,
Devon Miller and
Dana Peterson.
Among the most successful classes in program history, these ladies have led Cabrini to 44 victories, including 35 Colonial States Athletic Conference wins and three league championships. In their 483 total appearances, they have accumulated 241 points on 93 goals and 55 assists.
The Cavaliers wasted little time in taking control of the action, as Cooper's long pass found sophomore
Taylor Tralie. The sophomore's shot deflected off the inside of the far post to put Cabrini on the board less than five minutes into the match.
Just over two minutes later, Tralie connected with classmate
Lisette Hrapmann, who put the ball into the net for her second goal of the season. Cooper posted her third score of the campaign in the 15th minute, extending the lead to 3-0.
Cabrini struck again in the 32nd minute, as Hinkelmon's long pass found junior
Allie Vallen in the middle of the penalty area.
The Blue and White carried its 4-0 cushion into the second half, but extended the lead early in the stanza.
Martin notched her team-leading eighth goal of the year in the 50th minute, as her forehead was on the receiving end of Hrapmann direct kick. Less than 30 seconds later, Cooper found Peterson for her fourth goal of the season.
Miller closed the scoring in the 52nd minute, turning Hrapmann's second assist into her sixth goal of the year.
While the day's focus was on the senior class, the Blue and White got contributions from its underclassman. All 20 available players in uniform saw significant minutes.
Sophomore
Alivia Dietsch and junior
Marissa Jenkins combined to record seven saves to seal the club's seventh shutout of the year.
The Cavaliers posted 20 shots on the day and recorded all nine of the match's corner kicks. Cooper and Miller led the way with four shots each, while Martin, Hrapmann and sophomore
Crystal Auslander added two shots each.
Senior goaltender Elizabeth McBride recorded six saves for Immaculata (3-13-2, 3-7-1 CSAC), while sophomore Rosemarie Reitman attempted four of the team's 13 shots.
