ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Cabrini women's basketball team opened its 2015-16 season tonight, suffering a 62-48 loss at Eastern University in the annual Battle for Eagle Road.
The Cavaliers produced balanced scoring, with six players recording six or eight points. Sophomore
Sabrina Hackendorn made the most of her debut in the Blue and White, pairing eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior
Dana Peterson added eight points off the bench.

Kristina Startare paired six points and six boards, one more rebound than junior
Renee Oliver, who also recorded six points.
The Blue and White controlled the glass, outrebounding Eastern 40-33, while turning 18 offensive rebounds into 12 second chance points.
The Cavaliers also struggled to find their collective shooting touch in tonight's opener, connecting on just 29% of its field goal attempts, including 5-16 from three point range and 7-16 from the free throw line.
Both teams felt each other out in the early going, as Cabrini closed the opening quarter on a 6-0 run, building a 12-8 lead after the 10 minute period.
The Eagles gained control of the action in the second quarter, opening the period with a 16-3 run. The Cavaliers fought back, pulling within 28-24 at the half.
The Blue and White patiently chipped away at its deficit, taking its first lead since early in the second quarter on Peterson's fast break lay-up with 3:54 left in the third quarter. Eastern's Amanda Riiff drained a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left in the quarter to give the Eagles a 39-37 lead with10 minutes to play.
Eastern put the game away in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, using an 8-1 spurt to push its lead to 47-38 just 74 seconds into the period. Cabrini pulled within six points twice in the final period on three pointers by junior
Tayler Holmes and Peterson, but the Blue and White could get no closer.
The Cavaliers committed nine of its 19 turnovers in the fourth quarter, leading to 12 Eastern points.
Reggie Robinson led the Eagles (2-0) with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Taylor Price paired 14 points, six boards and five assists. Emily Lavin added 12 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots.
The Cavaliers will return to the hardwood on Friday, as they travel to Galloway, N.J. for the Stockton University Tip-Off Tournament. The Blue and White will face the host Ospreys (0-0) on Friday at 4 p.m. and Moravian College (1-1) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
