Swim Teams Finish Strong at 2015 AMCC Championship

  After day three of the 2015 AMCC Championship, the women's team finished in second place, while the men's team placed third. 

It was Penn State Behrend who took home the 2015 AMCC Championship for the women and men, with a total of 269 and 384 points, respectively. 

 

The Cabrini women's team ended the three day tournament with 190 points, 73 points ahead of Franciscan. Pittsburgh Bradford earned a fourth place finish with 102 points, while Penn State Altoona placed fifth with 96 points. 

 

On the men's side, Pittsburgh Bradford captured the second place finish with 140 points, just four points ahead of the Cabrini men's team, who finished third in the AMCC. Penn State Altoona earned 99 points, and finished fourth in the conference. 

 

Sophomore Christina Melchiorre continues to make a name for herself, with a first place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, along with a new school and AMCC record. The sophomore completed the race in 54.38, a time good enough to break her own school record set last season.

 

Freshman Casey Merrill set her fifth record in three days after earning a first place finish in the 1,650 yard freestyle in 19:06.30, topping Breaghann Smith's record time of 19:09.55 set in 2013. Classmate Brooke Hagan placed third, completing the race in 19:54.05, just one spot ahead of sophomore Allie Stein.

 

Senior Morgan Griffith placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a final time of 54.87. Senior Megan Tustin earned a new personal best in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:21.63. Sophomore Sarah Wagner ended with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:31.46.

 

Junior Meagan Kalinoski and sophomore Moira Prior placed third and fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke, in 2:52.57 and 2:52.68, respectively. Freshman Stefanie Barkofski earned a third place finish in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:38.15.

 

Melchiorre, Hagan, Barkofski and Griffith ended the night with a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The quartet completed the race in 3:50.55.

 

Sophomore Todd Walker earned a fifth place finish and set a new program record in the 200 yard backstroke. Walker's time of 1:59.53 was good enough to top his previous record of 2:03.46 set last season. 

Walker also set two program records in the 1,650 yard freestyle, scoring a second place finish with a final time of 17.45.40, along with 10:35.52 split for a new 1,000 yard freestyle record. Junior Sean Tallon completed the 1,650 yard freestyle in 18:35.88, good for a fourth place finish.

Freshman Rich Giuliani placed fourth and completed the 100 yard freestyle in 49.55,  while sophomore Bobby Schmidt finished 10th in 52.04. Freshman Nicholas Vivian earned a fourth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly, reaching the wall in 2:19.05.
