LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Cabrini golf team hit the links for it first 36 holes of its Spring season today. After two rounds at the Webber International University Start 2 Finish Classic, the Cavaliers are tied for fifth out of eight teams.
The Blue and White paired rounds of 318 and 326 on the par 72 Lake Wales Country Club, matching Warner University. The host Warriors lead the tournament, after firing a 36 hole team score of 598.
The Cavaliers' opening round score of 318 put the club in fourth after 18 holes.
Dan Gentilucci's round of 74 put the sophomore in a fourth place tie out of 71 golfers after the morning round. Classmate
Michael Rojas carded a 79, closing thee round tied for 19th.
Fellow sophomore
Joe Myers' round of 81 placed him in a tie for 30th, while senior
Tommy Breslin tied for 42nd with a round of 84. Fellow senior
Ted Nebiolo finished one stroke behind Breslin, tied for 45th. Freshman
Clay Anders added a round of 88 to finish the morning 53rd.
The Blue and White took a slight step back in the day's second round, posting a team score of 326. Gentlucci fired a round of 78 to close the day tie for eighth with a 36 hole score of 152, just five strokes off the pace.
Myers and Rojas closed the day with matching scores of 161, good for a 31st place tie. Breslin and Nebiolo's rounds of 171 put the senior duo in a tie for 48th, while Anders remained in 53rd position with a 36 hole score of 173.
Webber International's Stuart Winsby leads the tournament after shooting rounds of 78 and 69 and leads teammates Claes Isakson and William Eriksson by one stroke.
The golfers will return to the links on Monday morning for the tournament's third and final round.
