Game Recap: Lacrosse (Women) |

Women's Lacrosse Downed by No. 6 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team suffered its fourth consecutive loss to open the season with tonight's 16-6 loss at No. 6 the college of New Jersey.

Senior Bree Thompson led the Cavaliers with four points on two goals and two assists.  Classmate Lacie Doubet added two goals, while fellow seniors Melissa Scanzano and Sarah Means also found the back of the net.

Scanzano earned game-high honors with five ground balls and four cause turnovers.  Thompson added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.  The duo also secured two draw controls each.

Sophomore goaltender Megan Barlow recorded five saves in the loss.

The Lions jumped on the board first, tallying two goals in the opening five minutes of play.  Thompson opened the Blue and White scorebook at the 23:03 mark.  TCNJ responded with three consecutive goals over the next three minutes.

Doubet ended the Lions' run, converting a Thompson pass into her seventh goal of the season.  Thirty seconds later, Scanzano tallied her 10th goal of the season, cutting the Cabrini deficit to 5-3 midway through the period.

TCNJ extended its lead to 7-3, a cushion it carried into the halftime break.

The Lions notched a goal early in the second half, but the Cavaliers responded nine seconds later, as sophomore Allie Vallen found Means for the senior's first goal of the campaign.

Both teams exchanged goals over the next 10 minutes, with Thompson and Doubet notching goals.  Leading 10-6 with 18:31 to play, TCNJ put the game away with six unanswered goals to end the game.

Kendal Borup led the Lions (2-0) with 10 points, including six goals and four assists.  

The Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday, when they travel to Chester, Pa. to face Widener University (1-0).  Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
